no sound
i have a soundblaster audigy ls card and i have no sound right now, just wondering how to figure this out. Thanks for the help.

Do you have SUSE 9.1 by any chance? If so, they screwed up something with the Audigy cards. I have SUSE 9.1 with an Audigy (not an Audigy 2) and the following command fixed the sound problem for me:
amixer -c 0 cset numid=163 mute If that works, let me know and I'll set you up so that this runs every time you boot up.

KDE, good choice! Click the star on the panel, configure your desktop. In the list should be sound, click the +, sound system, has enable button, and test. If the sound packages required are installed, you should yield results.
BTW, you'll find most of your system accessible thru that KDE interface. A tip for all, in look-n-feel, behavior,general,set left mouse button to application menu. It's just a setting I prefer, you may or may not find it handy. with this setting if you click the left button on the desktop, the menu comes up same as clicking the star.
