Dansguardian access
I am running Squid and Dansquardian with each other. I have 3 sites that 2 users need access to and the rest of the company does not. We are configured with DHCP. My question is: is there a way to give those 2 users access to the sites without giving anyone else access?
Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Dansguardian access
you may find VLAN's are your answer just allocate the IP addresses that you want to be in the VLAN
I assume that your software will support this .. I know nothing about Squid or Danguardian

Re: Dansguardian access
We have vlan's already setup. I know you can configure Dansguardian by allowing spacific ips to websites, but since we are running DHCP I don't think this is a good solution, because there IP could change.

Re: Dansguardian access
Hi,
Fishin has the right idea. You mentioned that you have DHCP, but once your connection comes from the outside it goes to a modem then a router and then possibly a switch. So, why can't you just take the LAN IPs and allocate them to the VLANs? Unless you don't have a router but that wouldn't make any sense. Take a look at it that way and see if it makes sense. Cheers!

Re: Dansguardian access
you can have as many VLAN's as you think necessary to do the job that is required.
If you are worried about using DHCP you could always issue a static IP address for those PC's that you'd want to be associated with particular VLAN's and there's [probably a way to ensure that those IP's aren't given to anyone else by mistake

Re: Dansguardian access
Thank you for all your help. I will look into the vlan idea and also the static ip address. In our environment that might be the best choice. Thank you for you help on this and I will post when I have the results.

Re: Dansguardian access
Sorry for the delay in my response. I have been tasked with many other things, and a temporary work around for this issue. The vlan idea did not work. I am still looking for a way to allow users to access certain sites that the rest of the company can not. The access is setup through squid.
