Kopete being a jerk

Ive finally decided i like using Kopete better than Gaim, and now all the sudden, when i try to connect with kopete, it flashes my buddy list and then im dc'd. gaim can connect, and all over internet apps work fine. ideas?

Is this for Yahoo? If so, you'll need to upgrade Kopete since Yahoo decided to change their authentication routines. Another thing to do would be to open a terminal window, then type "kopete" and copy/paste any error messages as you're trying to connect to this thread.

its not yahoo, i dont use it
today i ran it from konsole as u suggested, and it worked....for an hour
then i got kicked off and its back to doing what it was doing before

Open the main Kopete window and click Help on the menu, then About Kopete. What version do you have? The latest version, if you have KDE 3.2, is 0.9.0. If you don't have this version, try upgrading to the latest. You can get it at http://www.kopete.org. Any version newer then 0.9.0 will require KDE 3.3.

Also, which IM service are you having issues with? The only one that I have issues with is Yahoo, which disconnects me several times a day. All others rarely do.

I tried Kopete after seeing this thread and it won't allow me to connect to AIM whatsoever. Gaim works fine.. its kinda strange..

What version do you have? I'm running 0.9.0 and have been able to connect to all services (I'm currently on Yahoo, MSN, AIM and ICQ). The only one I've had issues with is SMS, but only because I don't have an account with any of the available providers.

I haven't tried going to a newer version as I haven't bothered to upgrade KDE yet.

I'll roll back to 0.9.0 and see what happens.. maybe a bug in the new code
