Mp3 on linux

Hello i just changed from windows to ubuntu linux, i had all songs on my ipod which i then moved into a player on linux, but how do i play my mp3 files. please note that i do not have an internet connection on that computer, but i do have many computers that do.
what do i do

Music files confuse me. There are so many of them!

There are several players available to you in Ubuntu.

Unfortunately, you mentioned that the PC to which you installed Ubuntu doesn't have an internet connection. But your other machines do?

How can we get the Ubuntu PC connected?

We've gotta get something straight right off the bat. If you have a Linux PC, and you want to add programs to it, that PC must be online.

That statement isn't entirely true for the experienced Linux user, but it is for the Linux beginner. The reason is most programs that you can add to your Linux OS will also need dependencies, small packages of data that allow the main application to function correctly. When you go online and install a Linux application, the package installer looks at your installation, finds out which dependencies you need, and gets them.

This is different from the Windows world, where many applications are available as .exe files that are completely portable as long as you got the right one for your version (W2K, XP, Vista) and your hardware is compatible.

So the first thing on your list is to figure out how to get that Linux PC online!

Here's a good overview of music/video issues for Ubuntu that might help you get started. Notice this is for 8.04 - you didn't say whether you installed 8.04 or 8.10.

i have a usb sprint air card. the software for it dosen't work with linux
