[SOLVED] Cant install Ubuntu (Moved from Other Operating Systems)
Hi, does anybody know why my Ubuntu wont install? I wanted to try it out. I downloaded it and burnt it onto a blank disc. I restarted my computer and put the disc in, it booted from the disc and I got the install menu come up, however when I selected "Install Ubuntu", after the Logo screen with the progress bar, all I get is somthing that looks like MS-DOS! I watched it being installed on YouTube, they did it the same way I did, and on their videos their computers didn't show any dos-like screens. It just installed without a hitch. How come theirs installs but mine won't.

Re: Cant install Ubuntu (Moved from Other Operating Systems)
Hi,
It sounds like your disk is booting to a command prompt. Does it look something like this Code:
[user@name of pc ~]$ Code:
startx Cheers!

Re: Cant install Ubuntu (Moved from Other Operating Systems)
So, Clement, you're now using Ubuntu from within Windows? That's the wubi installer, correct?
Not quite the same as a traditional dual-boot, but this way gives you some seat time to decide if you like Ubuntu or not. |
