How can I make Intrepid Ibex better?

I've been using linux for a few months now, and have settled on Ubuntu as my distro of choice. However, sometimes I just get the feeling that something's....missing. I guess I'm wondering if there are some ways to make Ibex run smoother, faster, and cleaner, and maybe look cooler, too. I've been using it for a while, but I would still consider myself a linux n00b. Maybe some of you more experienced people can help me out here. Also, are there any applications that you'd recommend installing?

Thanks

Hi,

I am not quite sure what you want to do with it. What are you looking to do to make it run smoother, faster, cleaner, and look cooler?

I found this tutorial from HowtoForge.com, it should help you out with some of the things that you want to do. Perfect desktop for 8.10.

Cheers!
