I have just got a asus eee laptop (supported by Linux) in addition to a vista supported laptop.
I am having trouble connecting the asus laptop to my orange broadband livebox. When I try to connect, the status remains at "pending". Is there any help available please. |

Re: Please Help :-(
Welcome to TSF!!
Hi, Here is an issue that we have been seeing a lot of lately. People can't get online with their internet if it is cable or dsl. Are you connected to the internet through a router or just straight to the modem? If you are connected straight through to the modem then I would recommend that you try doing a power cycle. Unplug the modem, and shutdown the computer. Then plug the ethernet cable into your vista laptop and shut it down. Next you need to plug in your modem, and let it boot all the way up. Then turn on your vista laptop and make sure that you are able to get a connection to the internet. If you are having problems with that then we can work from there. If you have a router then you need to do a power cycle on that setup. Unplug the modem and router, and shutdown your eee. Next let everything sit for about 2 minutes. Then plug your modem in and let it boot up. Next plug in your router, and let it boot up. Last turn on your eee, and see what you are getting for a connection. Also, make sure that you are are able to get connected on your windows laptop too. Quote:
Cheers!

Re: Please Help :-(
gmilkins,
Listen, we all post things that don't work. That is part of the learning experience. If you post something that doesn't work, then you learn from that and move on and find things that do work. It is all part of a learning experience. Cheers!
