[SOLVED] Ubuntu x64 problems (...again...)

I previously posted about problems with an Ubuntu 64 install, this was regarding my main rig. I have just tried to install on an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (has dual channel Crucial 2Gb). The live CD works great, I installed to the HDD (30Gb IDE) then removed disk with restart.
When It loads back up, it sits for an eternity on the Ubuntu loading screen, then goes to a command line, saying:

Busybox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

initramfs)

What next? Should this be happening at all??

Hi,

Busybox is just a smaller command prompt. Others are shell, Korn, etc. I am wondering if you get a login prompt. If you do then I would recommend that you login and then try typing

Code:

startx

This should start the X Windows system, which is what runs the GUI.

No login, startx doesnt work. It just goes to initramfs), which, I presume, is the basic kernel that loads to memory, in order to load the rest of the file system.
I have just read somewhere that its possibly something to do with the location the installer put the file system not being the same as the record of the location in the grub (which is a very minimal grub, normal, recovery and memtest only).

BTW, this is an Ubuntu only install, there are no other OS on this machine.

I tried all the suggestions on that page, no joy.
Then, I noticed during post, it was moaning about not having an 80 wire IDE cable, so I swapped it out and it worked. Duuuurrrrr. It never crossed my mind, as the previous XP 32 bit system had worked just fine on it.
Problem solved.
Thanks for your input, you helped me think my way through to a conclusion.

Next step, an overclock (it was overclocked with the XP OS, so I'll see if it works with this one)
