Intel Wireless (3945ABG) and Ubuntu?

Last night I finally decided to install a linux dual boot on my laptop. I had used Ubuntu before on my desktop (way back during dapper), therefore I decided to install the latest distro (Hardy Heron) of Ubuntu on it. Everything went fine (I used Unetbootin, which was a LOT faster than installing manually), but for some reason my wireless is not working.

I've been searching around the net for hours, and I appear to not be alone on this issue. My wireless card is an Intel Pro/wireless 3945 ABG. However, my problem seems to be slightly unique. When I boot into Linux, I can view all of the available wireless networks. My driver also appears to be loaded correctly. Despite all of this, I am unable to connect to my home's wifi--even when I turn off all security.

Does anyone have anything that could help me? If not, should I just downgrade to Ubuntu 7.10?

Re: Intel Wireless (3945ABG) and Ubuntu?

UPDATE:

I think I found a solution. It's working for now, but (as every computer person knows) that doesn't mean that it will always work.

Since many people said that the driver worked in 7.10, I decided to get a backported version of it in order to see if it would fair any better than the version in 8.04. Therefore, I enabled backporting under administrative options, and entered the following in the terminal.

Code:
sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic
After a restart, everything appears to work fine now. Hope this can help someone!

Re: Intel Wireless (3945ABG) and Ubuntu?

I'm glad you found a work-around. I'm surprised to hear that an Intel wireless chipset didn't work. Intel cards are supposed to work out of the box. That's been my experience with two laptops running 4965 cards.
