Re: what distros are good with wireless adapters? (like PC Linux OS Minime)
As I type, I'm installing Ubuntu on an old desktop. The wireless connection worked well even while just using the LiveCD. I've also had good luck with Ubuntu derivatives like Kubuntu and Mint. PCLOS, Mandriva, Suse and Knoppix seem to work fine with the cheap eMachines desktop I use to try out Linux distros.
Just realized you may be asking about Linksys adapter in particular, in which case my post is probably meaningless for you. My own router is a Belkin; sorry if I've misunderstood your question. |

Re: what distros are good with wireless adapters? (like PC Linux OS Minime)
Well, I was told PC Linux OS Minime/ tinyme are good with wireless, so I tried them, and it worked. I've tried ubuntu (And really wanted it) but it wouldn't work with my adapter and NDIS wrapper is far too complicated. (it did recognise the adapter as linksys, but there was no connection)

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You have a distro that works with your wireless connection, but you want others? What is so bad/wrong with the current distro that you have? Are you looking for more options, because I would stick with the one you have and learn as much as you can about it. Then move on to other distros.
Cheers!

Re: what distros are good with wireless adapters? (like PC Linux OS Minime)
You could dual-boot Ubuntu and then figure out NDIS wrapper at your convenience. For that matter, you could just try various LiveCDs and see which distros are to your liking, and work with your router/adapter. I think most Linux users probably experiment (read: distro hop) with various distros until they find the one which best suits them, and their machines.

So, I'm wondering if there's any others that are notorious for working well with wireless internet. |

I'm probably the only one who's confused here
![]() I don't understand what you mean by "linksys adapter". Do you mean one of those USB thumb drive receivers plugged into a desktop or laptop, or do you mean you have a linksys router, or something else entirely? Could you please state exactly what hardware you're using? What type of connection (cable, DSL), what modem, what router, and what's receiving the signal? |

Linksys wireless adapter, yes it plugs into the USB port. Model WUSB54G V. 4..
The router is Lynksys. (not sure the model with that) The connection is cable. |

I use a WUSB54G also, on Ubuntu with no problems. I also used PCLinuxOS for over a year, awesome distro, but I wanted a change and also I prefer the GNOME desktop.

belfast -
Puppy has a lot of enthusiastic followers. Isn't the GUI kind of basic compared to Gnome or KDE? |
