Re: help

Welcome to TSF!!

Hi,

Here are a couple of options that you have for Linux with the current setup of your computer. First is Xubuntu. This is version of the ever so popular, Ubuntu. I started with Ubuntu and feel that it is great. You will be able to run Xubuntu with about 99.9% of the hardware out there.

The second Distro, is Damn Small Linux. This is a distro that can be run off of 50mb of space if that were all that you had.

Both of those distros have Livecds. A livecd is a cd-rom that is capable of having all the neccasary files that an OS needs to run put on it. This essentially makes it an Live OS on a CD.

The one thing that hurts you with your setup is that you only have 128mb or ram. If you were able to get your hands on a 512mb stick of ram, new or used, you would have about seven more options.

Take a look at the ones I recommended, and see about more ram and we can go from there.

Cheers!

Re: help

Please also consider Linux Mint. It has an XFCE install and is even more user-friendly out-of-the-box than Xubuntu.
