yellowdog 6.0 and usenext
I downloaded the usenext for suse, redhat and fedora. I know yellowdog is linux and it displays the redhat insignia at start-up.
So anyway the installer opens it up but says some things are missing. The same thing when u update the linux software where programs depene on other things. Dependency is the issue. Would it help if I went in as root? Any suggestions? |

Re: yellowdog 6.0 and usenext
Welcome to TSF!!
I would never recommend using root unless you absolutely have to, and only then for the shortest amount of time possible. Root will give you ultimate access to everything, which can be very dangerous. Can tell us what "things" it says are missing. We will be able to better help you with that information. Cheers!

Re: yellowdog 6.0 and usenext
okay it's the usenext.rpm for redhat . when the installer starts it says "error resolving dependencies" and when I clik details it says
missing dependency: unrar is needed by package usenext. , missing dependency: mono (system.web) >=2.0.0.0 is needed by pkg usenext, mising dependency: gtk-sharp2 is needed, mono(mscolib)>= 2.0.0.0 is needed, mono(system) >= 2.0.0.0 is needed, mono(system xml) >= 2.0.0.0, and mono core. Wish I had it going, will be giving the kids the laptop and be using the linux on the ps3. Really gotten used to running Usenext. Thank you for any help. Re: yellowdog 6.0 and usenext
Your are going to have to install each of the dependencies separately. In your case install "unrar", then "mono" and so on. If "mono" needs dependencies then you will have to install them before "mono" will finally install.
Sorry, it sucks but there is no way around it! (Unless Usenext has a program like "redhat's yum that will resolve dependancies for you) Usenext is the "new" Usenet??? This looks like the same as Google Groups or the old dejanews that Google bought. |

Re: yellowdog 6.0 and usenext
Thanks lens this is all pretty much new and I'm pretty sure once I'm over the learning curve a smidgen it will get better. Brain has been laid back on windows too long.
Will start looking for those missing dependencies. |
