I would suggest that you do the initial install with graphics. It is a lot easier.
Then once Linux is installed and you have rebooted the first time, log in and edit the file /etc/inittab. In that file you will find a line that will say: "id:5:initdefault:" (without the quotes). Change the 5 to a 3, save the file (you will have to root to edit this file), then reboot. Linux will come up in text mode. That's all there is to it! To start the GUI, type in "startx". To kill the GUI, type in "cntr-alt-backspace". |
