Problem setting up RAID

Hello,

I have bought a Koutech PSA150 RAID controller. Wanted to set up a RAID on an old machine running Ubuntu 7.10 server. I have two 320GB maxtor SATA drives (identical) and another drive holding the OS. Card comes with no setup instruction for Linux. Koutech Techsupport is no help. After trying to set up RAID on the card, when doing "fdisk -l" I keep seeing two drives, /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1
-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o
Disk /dev/sda: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x8ac8b60f

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 38913 312568641 7 HPFS/NTFS

Disk /dev/sdb: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x8ac8b60f

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 1 38913 312568641 7 HPFS/NTFS

Disk /dev/hda: 20.4 GB, 20490559488 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 2491 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xe06c8ea5

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 2382 19133383+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 2383 2491 875542+ 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 2383 2491 875511 82 Linux swap / Solaris
-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

So I decided to try set up SW RAID in Ubuntu instead. I give command:
mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1
but then I get the error:
mdadm: Cannot open /dev/sda1: Device or resource busy
mdadm: create aborted

Does anyone know why that is??

Thanks in advance
