linux and 3g modem e196g

how do i make this work with an asus eee pc 701 4g?

Can you give us some more information. Primarily what OS are you using. Is it dial-up or broadband? Also, what have you tried so far and what were the outcomes(other than you tried to connect, and it didn't work).

Hi, thanks for the welcome. Just to be clear I am no wiz on a computer so if i say some stupid stuff thats why. I am running linux as far as i have bben told, I just bought the asus eeepc 701 4g and just started using it i havent changed anything. i obviously tried to plug and play it but nothing. so i went into the network section and tried to create a connection, clicked on the gsm/3g/hsdpa network, but the comp wont even recognise the modem. it is a three mobile internet modem for broadband. I hope that is enough for you to be able to help me.

How does your modem connect to your computer. Is it by ethernet cable, or urb cable?

it is by usb port direct into the comp.
