Set up RedHat 5 enterprise linux with RAID1

First of all question if I create SOFTWARE RAID1 in REDHAT 5 enterprise linux installation then will it be possible to boot system if one drive fails? Basic idea is to use 2x80GB SAS drives as RAID1.

I already tried playing with RAID configurations, but if I remove first drive the system doesn't load any more... so I guess it isn't possible to boot if one drive in RAID1 fails or am i doing something wrong... so question how to create proper partition layout for raid1?

soo... am i doing it right i create identical partitions on each hdd as follows:
dev/sda
dev/sda1 software raid size: 100mb
dev/sda2 software raid size: 1000mb
dev/sda3 software raid size: rest of hdd
dev/sdb
dev/sdb1 software raid size: 100mb
dev/sdb2 software raid size: 1000mb
dev/sdb3 software raid size: rest of hdd

then i start creating raid devices

dev/md0 with mounting point /boot size:100mb ext3
dev/md1 swap 1000mb
dev/md2 with mounting point / size: rest of the hdd ext3
...
...

is this correct?
