Re: Ubuntu internet
Here are a couple of things that I would check about your WEP key. First, is do u have another computer that you are connecting to wirelessly? If so, can you enter the key and have it go through for you. Another thing that I would check is if you are able to connect to your network without the key enabled. This will make sure that you are getting connect, at all.
As for WINE are you getting any errors when you go to uninstall the game? If so, can you please post them for us. Cheers!

Re: Ubuntu internet
I mean have it go through and connect. Like accept the pw. What happens when you try to uninstall with wine? You aren't getting any errors but what else happens if anything at all.
Cheers!

Re: Ubuntu internet
Ok here is what I would like you to try. Open teminal, Apps > Accessories > Terminal. This will open a command window. In that window I would like you to type [code]iwconfig[/url]. This will give you the ip and information of any wireless network that you are connecting too. Then post what you get on here.
As for wifi-radar, I would recommend that you just play around with it a little bit. That is a lot of what linux is. It's playing with the programs that you have till you learn how they work best for you. I am still working on a fix for your wine problem, too. Cheers!

Re: Ubuntu internet
havoc -
Most likely answer to your problem is you're running a Broadcom or Atheros or whatever wireless card that Ubuntu doesn't recognize natively. You need to identify the exact wireless card and post back. I don't remember off the top of my head how to find out the wireless card. If you still have Windows on it go into Device Manager. In Linux, type "lspci" into terminal and it should list the wired and wireless adapters. What is the exact model of laptop? Also, a funny thing about WEP - if you get to the point that the wireless card is working and you're ready to go online, you need the word that you used to generate the WEP key, not the WEP key itself. When I set up my Dad's network, I told the router to generate a key from the word "Father". When I tried to log into his network with my Ubuntu laptop, Ubuntu didn't want the password that was generated from the word Father, it wanted Father. Took me a couple of days to figure that out! |

Re: Ubuntu internet
Thank you very much for that information. At the very bottom of the list you should see a line that reads
Code:
03:07.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) Cheer!
