ext drive backup for Fedora 8
trying to find a compatible extrernal usb drive to back up a Fedora 8 PC. Anyone know of one? Thanks

They all are. Any 2.x USB or Firewire compatible drive will work. Reformat the drive with a ext3 file system. Don't leave the original DOS on it, it will be too slow. You might add truecrypt encryption so if the drive is stolen, no one can use the data.
Find a backup program like backup, tar, or star. I backup all my computers across a network using ssh to login to the remote system and use "dd" to write compressed files on a backup HD. I use star for a backup program. It does incremental backups and will do compression. |
