XP, Primary Slave
Hi,
Okay, so I've been running Ubuntu for a couple of months but would like to put XP back on my machine to run a few games and things. I have a second hardrive which I tried to install XP on, but the boot disk stopped me. (I beleive because my Primary Master is entirely Ext2 format and XP can't put a bootloader on that) Question 1 Is there anyway to install XP and not the bootloader? I could always re-install GRUB but it would be nice not to do so. Next I disabled the master Hardrive in the BIOS to try and install XP to the slave. This time my BIOS halted the computer and told me to switch the hardrives if I didn't want to use the Primary Master. I disabled both hardrives, took the back off and put my slave as the master. I rebooted and changed the BIOS to autodetect the primary master. It thought that the hardrive which was previously in the Primary Master slot was still there. The XP installer crashed on scanning disks. Does anybody have any idea how to install XP? I think my BIOS version is P2.80 Thanks for any help in advance. |
