Is there a Tech Support forum where I can get help on a problem using Sun xVM's VirtualBox program to install and run Ubuntu 8.04?

Re: Sun's VirtualBox crash
I had this problems these days, since upgrade to 2.1.2. The problem was not come up after I enable host interface, reboot the Ubuntu guest on XP host crashed the XP with blue screen.
Tried installed 2.1.2 again but crashed in middle installation. Since then, I even couldn't uninstalled VXBox, it seems that crashed installation left something in machine which is very hard to clean. Did XP restore to old period and then reinstall 2.1.2, crashed on host interface, roll back to 2.1.0, crashed in host interface, roll back to 2.0.6, finally got working now. These happened exactly on two machine, both had VMware installed. I do not know if these were caused by VMware or late XP updating, cause VXBox host interface (2.1.0) worked fine, but now, both 2.1.0/2.1.2 do not work with host interface. Tested two machine: Host : XP host (home/pro), Guest: Ubuntu guests (7.1 LTS / 8.x), VXbox : 2.1.0/2.1.2 Problem : no host interface, no crash. Crashed when host interface is activated. To solve the problem : Have to restore XP into earlier backup stage, roll back VXBox to version 2.06 (before roll back, delete all xml VM's configuration files under <profile>/.VitrualBox/. I guess the network mini-driver for XP caused the problem. |
