trouble with linux

i am having trouble with my linux computer i tried to download some important files on my linux computer but every time i try to run the set up it ask me what i want to open the program with and i dont kno what to putit will give me a list of options but i dont kno which one to pick.

What is the file extention on the files? It makes a difference with linux. If they are .exe files then you are going to have some problems with them.
