Interrupted XP install on Asus eeepc with linux xandros
I have the 8g ASUS on the Linux, and am trying to install Windows XP, but I seriously messed it up. I was following the manual's instructions. Everything was proceeding okay until I needed to enter the Product Key. BUT the CD/key combination my brother gave me was not working. At this point, I could not cancel or go back, so I shut down. I restarted the process with a new CD/key combination...but the ASUS keeps holding on to *part* of the XP installation and keeps trying to RESUME installation rather than begin anew with the new CD/key. Then I get this error message:
Error The signature for Windows XP professional setup is invalid. The error code is 800b0100. No signature was present in the subject. Fatal error Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information. Fatal error One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. The operation was canceled by the user. How can I truly RESTART the installation process? And if you can tell from this post, I am not fluent in techie-English, and I need a LOT of help. What I've tried: restarting after changing the Advanced/OS Installation option to "Finished", then back to "Start" I'm always getting the same error message. When I restart it goes straight to the blue screen, that it's resuming installation, and back to the error message. HELP I'M DESPERATE! |
