help error trying to overwrite innotop while updateing

brother i m using ubuntu 8.04 and when i wamt to update the ubuntu linux i m getting the error

<b><u>E: /var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-client-5.0_5.0.51a-3ubuntu5_i386.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/innotop', which is also in package innotop

please help me out i m unable to update .

help will be appreciated .

You need to be superuser. All files in /usr/bin are owned by root. And only root has the stroke to write over the file.

sudo <file or script to write>.

or

su from the text command line and then run the install script.
