Dual-Boot Install Help

I have an HP dv9000t laptop with dual 250GB hard drives. I want to take the second drive and install 64-bit Ubuntu on it. What is the easiest way to do this (with the installation CD's) without harming the Vista installed on the first H/D?

Re: Dual-Boot Install Help

If I install it on the secondary H/D and decide to uninstall it, how do I go about doing that?

Re: Dual-Boot Install Help

Just format the hdd, and then you will be able to install whatever you want. Or once you format, you can just leave it open for files.

Cheers!

Format the partition as mentioned above then you would have to deal with the bootloader

To remove grub bootloader and boot to Vista again by default you would need to reset the mbr by using the bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot command from a vista recovery disk - may sound a daunting task but it is a pretty simple task to do

Re: Dual-Boot Install Help

Ah, I think I see what you mean. I will say that the second drive doesn't have an OS installed on it now...it's just there for storage purposes (formatted for Windows though).

If I install Linux on the second H/D, it shouldn't affect anything on the first, correct?
