Xubuntu livecd error
What does this Xubuntu error mean :
![]() One of the error msgs in the above image is : "could not generate /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe for vesa driver" I received this after the Xubuntu livecd (xubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386.iso) chugged away for a good 4min on an old PC (HP Pavilion 6330 : 384MB, AMD K6 300MHz). The error message prior to this screen says that the X server was unable to start. After acknowledging the error it returns to a shell screen with just two lines : "* Checking battery state ... [OK]" "* Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local) ... [OK]" This shell is unresponsive to <Enter> and <Ctrl+c> . Last edited by mobybit : 07-08-2008 at 07:10 PM. |

Re: Xubuntu livecd error
mobybit, what that has to do with is that it is having a problem with loading into the Xversa server. Are you running your monitor cable straight to the on board graphics or do u have a graphics card installed, and if so what is it?
It doesn't have anything to do with what media or software you used to burn the livecd. Cheers!

Re: Xubuntu livecd error
The monitor is pluged into the onboard video adapter. I believe that the video adapter is SiS of some sort. What command will determine the exact chip chipset ?
I thought the livecds were designed to be able to run on most any hardware since ~1990 . If it doesn't work by default on my hardware do I have an option to reconfigure something when it starts up ? Thanks |
