Thumbs Down terminal problem

While opening the terminal for normal user it was showing error message when ever i tried to open the terminal it is giving the error message

ERROR MESSAGE:An error occured while loading or saving configuration information for gnome-terminal.Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.

How to resolve this

After i get this i can able to use terminal but i am unable open the new tab terminal from the terminal if i need one more terminal i should open new terminal.

Sounds like a file permission problem. Some file that the terminal uses can't be written to.

Try from the one terminal you can get open: "xterm&" (no quotes). See if a raw xterm can open. The xterm window is a "very ugly", very stupid text window, but it will do everything that the regular terminal can do.

I recall very vaguely that for a while under Fedora Core 8, I had a problem with the text terminals. A patch was later installed using yum that fixed everything. Make sure that you are up to date.

Good luck. Tell me what happens, I have something else to try but it is very radical.

I have moved the file .gconf/ to .gconfd/ after moved that one once i had logout and login it's working.
