Proxy MSN Messenger 7.0
Hi
im working with windows 2000 pro. behind linux proxy. in MSN messenger i test the TCP connection and it is fail. then i test the HTTP proxy with proxy IP and port then it connected But still i cant log to messenger Pls Help Me .............. thanks for reading/help Asela Last edited by asela : 07-07-2008 at 03:54 AM. Have you checked your proxies documentation to make sure that there isn't anything that is blocking some of the ports? I would check your .conf file as well just to be on the safe side.

Googling Microsoft Messenger TCP port says that port 5060 and 5061 (TCP) are used for this service. This can be found in the file /etc/services as "mmcc". Mr. wmorri is right something is blocking your ports.
You might try "telnet someplace 5060" and see if you can get out of your local network. This telnet command will try to connect to "someplace" where "someplace" is a valid IP address or URL. Port 5060 will be used for connection. The normal iptables firewall, if it is on, will block incoming connections. You will have to fix this in the firewall for it to work. I would first turn off all of your firewalls and try it. |
