Can't boot or install Xubuntu on new build.

Ok, I just finished building a computer yesterday, everything runs smooth on Windows XP (at least, as smooth as XP gets *scoffs*). I tried installing Xubuntu on it, and it wont work. I can't run it as a live CD either. The CD worked fine on a different computer, and it passed the CD's built-in verification. Also, the computer passed the Memtest86 on the CD. I also tried using an AMD64 CD of Xubuntu, and that didnt work either. The only thing I get is some message saying that Ubuntu (even though I'm using Xubuntu, I figured its because theyre really similar) is running in Low Graphics mode. I tried all the ATI Radeon drivers (for my motherboard's built-in ATI Radeon 2100), and the test failed. If I try to continue in Low Graphics mode, it looks like its trying to do stuff for a while, plain white text on a black screen. Then it get stuck trying to initialize something (i'll get the exact text in a bit) and if i just leave it there it eventually goes black screen.

System Specs:

CPU: Amd Sempron LE-1100 1.9Ghz Single Core (box says 64-bit support)
Motherboard: ECS A740GM-M
Video: Built-in ATI Radeon 2100 (192MB)
RAM: 2GB of Kingston RAM
DVD Drive: Sony (no other details I could find, its OEM)

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Boot with the Xubuntu CD, press alt-f1, then you can watch the boot messages, post the last displayed message on screen.

Re: Can't boot or install Xubuntu on new build.

If you get it to boot at all do the following from a text command:

"more /proc/cpu*'

This command will dump the exact specs of your CPU. If you do what "HAL8000" says, you can see what the boot kernel is running on. Hit the <ALT-F2/3/4/etc) it get to other screens. This will give you more info about your hardware.
