Changing the desktop icon of an application
I open the Properties of the application's button (icon), and see a copy of the existing icon in the window. First guess was that I must simply drop the desired new icon on the it; this doesn't work -- the cursor changes into a "forbidden" sign.
Next guess is to click on the copy of the existing icon in the Properties window. This opens a new small window, containing a pane containing many available icons. Clicking on one of these does replace the existing icon ..... but none of the suggested icons is appropriate. Moreover, the application does come with a selection of icongs designed for it, and I want to choose one of these. The third guess is that I must find a way to get one of the application's icons into the pane of available icons. But no, just dropping one there does nothing, but fails even to change the cursor form or raise an error message. Is it really possible that there is no way to replace an arbitrary icon? |
