missing configure script
I am still very new to Linux. And I try to follow everybody's help. But I keep running into little problems.
I thought I would learn about widgets - so I followed the directions: mkdir "new directory cd to new directory then run configure (../configure - with -gtk) bash - no such command so I re ran autoconf still is not there what happened to the command?? very confused. I have been trying to install GeForce 9800GTX card - maybe I deleted something without knowing Also just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 Hope someone knows what I have done. Thank You in advance for your help |

Re: missing configure script
then run configure (../configure - with -gtk)
Are you sure this shouldn't have been ""./.configure -gtk". By default, unless you have modified your path, Linux (unix and OS X) does not search in the "current working directory" for a program, script, or executible. If you do modify the PATH environment variable, put the dot at the end of the path. It is a security hole if it is any place but the end. Most of the "build" packages have configure as ".configure". It is prefixed with a dot so it is a hidden file. |
