Re: Step by step instrustions for getting wireless adapter to work with kubuntu?
Linksys WUSB54Gv1, 802.11b/g, USB 2.0, Chipset: Prism54
Linksys WUSB54Gv4, 802.11b/g, USB 2.0, Chipset: RT2500USB (RT2571F) Just to name two and their are more in that series. So, if you need help you will need to provide more detail about the wireless unit and more info about your O/S you are trying to configure this card on @#@

1. Is the card attched to the motherboard ?
2. Does the card plugin into your machine ? 3. Brand [maker] of the card ? 4. The card will [should] have a model# and/or S.N.# on the card.[The numbers on the card will be the most help] 5. Is this machine a laptop ? 6. Is this machine a tower ? 7. The more detail the better #!@ Did I say detail, just checking. ![]() ![]()

It's a USB adapter.. I'm not too sure what you mean by "card".
It plugs in to the usb port of the tower. For windows, I had to install software to make it work.. I don't know what other numbers to give. I found the box, but I don't see 1 or 4 or whatever. |

Re: Step by step instrustions for getting wireless adapter to work with kubuntu?
your hardware may be based on the Ralink Tech chipset.
link for driver:http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Hom...ort/Linux.html More than likely the RT2500USB (RT2571/RT2572) is the driver for your adapter and read release notes It seems Ralink has very good Linux support

How to make USB wireless work? I never try. Here are two PCI cards that work on your Linux and Windows> Netgear MA 311 and Netgear WPN 311. You need not go through all the trouble of fitting a Windows driver to the Linux load.

Re: Step by step instrustions for getting wireless adapter to work with kubuntu?
So, if the linksys router is being seen, could I download the correct driver to make it work? (of course I'd have to plug it in for that to work)
