Sir,
I am using Fedora core 8 linux system. Past a days I am unable to work the sound card. can you pls explain what i do properly working the sound system. I am waiting for your valuable reply Regards Varadan. |

From a command line run "/sbin/lspci -vv". You will get several pages of output. Look through the output to see your Sound card. "list pci" (lspci) queries the bios for what the actual hardware is. If you don't see it, check that the bios has it turned on.
Next run "/sbin/lspci -nn". This will dump the device manufacture and a number that is in the form of xxyy:zzaa. Find that number associated with your sound card. That is the manufactures number for that piece of hardware. Take that number and go to google and look for "linux sound card xxyy:zzaa". If anybody has had trouble with the sound card before now, there will be instructions on how to fix it. This method also works with all types of hardware that doesn't work. Good luck. |
