Linux on Windows 98 Machine
I just got a Windows 98 machine, and I'd like to use it to keep in the garage for "yardly" and "mechanical" research.
I'd like to put some type of Linux on it, but since it's working as 98, maybe it's best to keep it as is? What do I need to find out about the machine to decide what Linux type to put on it, and what do I need to look into to get it to connect to my Verizon DSL? Thanks. |

Re: Linux on Windows 98 Machine
Xubuntu might be a good option for that machine. For the internet, do you have a router? If you do, you can just connect the computer to the router with an ethernet cable. You could probably also connect it to the modem directly, but you might have to deal with power cycling, etc. I think Xubuntu should do most of the configuration when it starts up (assuming it's connected to the modem at the time).

Re: Linux on Windows 98 Machine
I put Ubutu on a CD and tried to install it but I can't figure out how to boot it. Any ideas? I realize this is going to be like dragging a kid through a mall on one of those leashes, but I'm kind of dumb on it.
