My System

default drive problems

i got the linux 2008 dvd, and when i installed it, it didn't install EVERYTHING from it. so when i went to install programs, it won't read from my dvd drive. how do i switch my default drive so that it will read my dvd instead of being stufid and reading from my cd?

There may be a way to change the default when you run the live CD, but you'd have to look around in your live CD's settings. If this is not a live CD, you'll have to find out something about the installation. Red Hat Enterprise installs also had a similar problem, and there is a way to point to a different place to load software. I just don't know what it is for mandriva. You might have to get more specific mandriva information.

  • Installing EVERYTHING from the CD or DVD is a bad idea, anyway, because you will end up having applications that conflict with one another.
  • Do you want your machine to boot in a certain order, for example floppy, then CD, then HD? If so, then you will need to access your machines BIOS and configure the boot priority to your liking.
