Linux server help
I purchased the Red Hat Fedora and Enterprise Linux 4 Bible, and Im trying to install Fedora Core 4 onto my desktop to use as a server, but half way through the install it says it needs to restart and then starts all over again. I tried to run from the harddrive after the restart but it says the harddrive has no OS. So i go back to the cd and the install starts over. am i missing something? Im not to familiar with linux thats why i bought the bible, but its not helping any

Re: Linux server help
Where did you get the Fedora 4 media, and why Fedora 4 and not the latest? Fedora does not stay supported (automatic updates) for long.

Re: Linux server help
The reason I asked is it first sounded like the media was blasted with a bad image. Now, it sounds like Fedora 4 does not like your hardware. If you have access to another PC, you should be able to download media for Fedora 8 or Fedora 7.
Unless you like building and/or upgrading workstations, my suggestion is to find something else like CentOS, Ubuntu, or Debian whose updates extend a little longer. Else, get the latest Fedora image.
