[SOLVED] Flash not working, need help with installing it.

hi.

i have recently installed Ubuntu 7.10 and im on the internet. when i try to watch a video on youtube it says i need to install Flash player so i clicked the link and get this screen. (SCREENSHOT). I'm new to Linux so i haven't a clue what option to pick so i chose Option 1. Once downloaded i made it open with the default program and got this txt file type screen with multi-coloured codes.
I don't know whether this means its installed but i went back to youtube and Firefox prompted me to install these plugins so i tried both and got this error. (SCREENSHOT1).

Please help.

Click on Applications, then Add/Remove at the bottom. Search for Flash and install "Macromedia Flash plugin". If this doesn't work, we'll do it the manual way.

I searched for flash and it only came up with Movie Player which is already installed.

Re: Flash not working, need help with installing it.

Forgot one step. When you open up the Add/Remove Applications program, you need to select what time of software you want to install. By default, only free, open source software can be installed. If you don't mind installing non free, non open source software, then click on Preferences at the lower left corner of the window. From the first tab, in the downloadable from the internet section, make sure all options are checked. From the Third Party tab, check all options as well. Click close, it'll ask you to reload, do so. After this, try searching for Flash again.

Re: Flash not working, need help with installing it.

I scrapped Ubuntu and gone to Fedora 8 and so far no problems. Thank you for all your help.
