if you type "shutdown -h now" or "poweroff" into a terminal what does it then do?

Re: Problem in shutdown the system

Hi all,

I have also experienced the same issue several times. I think it is a problem with some driver installation. The issue gets resolved when you reinstall the whole fedora(May be, in my case, the driver was installed properly the second time).

Any way, I can assure you that it is an issue is there. I have an AMD Athlon 2600+XP system with ASUS motherboard (with A78X MX chipset). May be, it is an issue with AMD systems.

Thanks.

Re: Problem in shutdown the system

I have tried this too ("shutdown -h now" or "poweroff" in terminal)...Same problem I am getting. It's saying "flushing IDE devices : hda hdc
Power down"
and it just hang on there.

If you see the message "Power Down" then this means the file systems have unmounted and you press the on/off button on your case.

Fedora has not installed/misconfigured power management for your motherboard.
You should be able to fix this by enabling acpi or apm services.
