Swap partition problem after resize

After I thought I had finished setting up Ubuntu just perfect, I decided to wipe Vista from my Sony VAIO VGN-NR160E

I moved my Ubuntu partition and expanded it to fill up the void left by Vista, and did the same with my Data partition. I now had 1.5GB left over, so I expanded my swap from 512MB to 2GB.

Then, swap partition stopped working properly.

I swapped it on, I rebooted, it was off.

So I snooped around in /etc/fstab and found that the UUID hadn't been updated.

Updated UUID for swap partition.

I hibernated, and... the swap partition went kersploot.
GParted said that the filesystem for it was Unknown
and swapon refused to mount it until I used mkswap, which meant changing the UUID in fstab again.

Then, I hibernated again, and... kersploot.

Can anyone help?

Re: Swap partition problem after resize

format the partition as swap
Under gparted, umount /dev/hdb3
Format it as "linux-swap"
Then, again in gparted, right click on the swap partition and choose swapon

possible solution was taken from here since I do not use ubuntu.

Re: Swap partition problem after resize

Hibernate? Turn it off entirely. Not sure that'll make any dif but makes no sense to hibernate.
