[SOLVED] Burn a CD version onto a DVD?

Hi.

I have just downloaded opensuse 10.3 GM KDE i386 iso (694MB), and i have just realised i have no blank CD-R. Can i burn this image to a DVD-R and will it still boot? (i know how to burn image files). I do have a DVD drive and know how to change the boot order.

Re: Burn a CD version onto a DVD?

Well, I think so, but it won't be readable in a CD drive. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy some more 700MB CD-R's?

Re: Burn a CD version onto a DVD?

In my experience, burning a CD iso onto a DVD will not work. It won't boot up the way it should and will just try to read from the hard drive.

Re: Burn a CD version onto a DVD?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. If I recall correctly, I did that with PClinuxOS because I thought I had some bad CD media and it worked. Try it.

Re: Burn a CD version onto a DVD?

The best way to find out is to try it. I guess it works for some and not for others.
