Hi, after using nmapfe in one of my classes I saw that port 111/TCP was open and port 925/TCP was open on my computer even though my firewall should have dropped any anomolous connections to those ports since it only allows whitelisted traffic.

rpcbind was one process I shut off and the other I cant remember. After I shut these processes off, nmap could no monger find any open ports or figure out which OS I was running, obviously resulting in a much safer operating environment.

My question is how do I prevent these services from starting with my computer, I know there are certain exploits that take advantage of rpcbind and I have no need to run these services.
