Well, check it out:
I'm running a recently installed version of PCLOS 2007. Everything has worked great up to this point, when basically my Ethernet card has magically stopped working. Nothing really has been changed/updated between the time it worked and the time is stopped... (note when I say Ethernet card, I'm referring to the on-board Ethernet connection) So instinct is to go in and delete the old connection preferences and create new ones, which I did, but this did not work. In the hardware area (set up and configuration I believe it was called), the card IS recognized with all of the info available, while a "test" of connectivity proves the internet is not connected. The next funny thing is, I'm dual booting XP Home as well, and the card is recognized and works fine under windows. When the computer is running, there are usually a couple lights on the back of my board that indicate Ethernet connectivity, and a light on my router indicating the number it is connected to. Under linux, none of these lights are lit... In system info (under windows) its called: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC Any ideas? Thanks |
