updating/replacing linux kernel

Hi, I'm fairly new to linux, and have just successfully installed Suse9.3.

Anyway, I'm currently trying to update the kernel from 2.6.11.4-20a to 2.6.22.6 in order to use ndiswrapper to get drivers for my wireless network card. I currently have both the full kernel and the patch downloaded (2.6.22.6), but I need some help as to which one to use, and how to do so.

(I've already backed up the current version of my kernel so have something to fall back on in case of error).

Thanks.

Re: updating/replacing linux kernel

The best way to upgrade your kernel is to use YOU (YAST Online Update) and tell it to do the upgrade. If you need the kernel headers, then use YAST to install them. Do not download the vanilla kernel from kernel.org (or any mirrors) unless you know what you're doing.
