Network Storage Drive Help.....
Hi all. New here and to Linux so if I ask an ignorant question please dont bust my balls.....TIA
I have a Maxtor Shared Storage 500 and the drive itself died. I have a 200GB drive that will work in the system however I have no idea how to install the os to control it on the network. Since it is a network drive you are supposed to just plug it into the router and turn it on and it goes. How to get the system to do that I am lost. Maxtor doesnt support this issue so Im on my own. They did however provide me with 2 files that I am supposed to use once I have Linux on the drive. These 2 files are..... 1. mxo_fw_src_1.2.2.tgz 2. naspack.tgz Dont know what they are or what they do. I already downloaded Mandriva but I dont think that it is entirely necessary to have a full Linux system installed to perform one function. I am not partial to it so I am open to suggestions. My setup: MacBook running OS X 10.4.10 ACOM external firewire enclosure (using to setup drive to go in Maxtor enclosure) Maxtor Shared Storage 500 here is the link in case you arent farmiliar with the unit: http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/...or-ssd200.html |
