Getting GRUB to work again - Ubuntu 6.10

Hi all,
I had a shared drive with Win XP SP2 and Ubuntu 6.10. Then Windows started to give problems ( click for my thread on that). I got that fixed, but now the GRUB boot manager's disappeared. How can I get it back from Windows?

I don't know of a way to get GRUB back from Windows. I think your Ubuntu install disc should work. Just get into the disc's graphical "LiveCD" and open a terminal. You should be able to get to root with "sudo su -" (without the quotes), then use the command "grub-install --no-floppy /dev/hda" (again no quotes). Just replace "/dev/hda" with whatever your hard drive is in Linux.
