Smile Star Office Experience

Hi,

Let me tell you my experince with the recently installed staroffice suite:

One, the icons look really funny and unprofessional, they look all similar except for the color grin:

Two, lack of templates! There are so few that I can see. Also background images are scarce.

Three, the apperance reminds XP users of previous versions of windows Why don't they make it look fresher and more modern?

Four, it is relatively slower, but this not really an issue.

Five, it would be much better and more convenient if the page would appear centered instead of showing more on the left when it is at 100%

Six, otherwise, it is excellent!

Re: Star Office Experience

Use OpenOffice instead. It's free and much better.

Re: Star Office Experience

I have no idea how add page number to all pages
I want them to be on the lower part of each page and on the left, in MS Word it is much easier. Any help please?

Re: Star Office Experience

I guess one can change the icons right? And also the appearance, I am not a programmer, but I think this could be done? Maybe, perhaps I can customize it?

Insert -> Footer -> Default
Click into the footer
Insert -> Fields -> Page Number

Then format the page number the way you want it.

I haven't played with my new Linux computer yet, but in windows you:

Right click on the icon you want to change
Choose properties
In the Shortcut tab, click Change Icon

Have fun

Hopefully it won't be too different in Linux.

Re: Star Office Experience

Download OpenOffice templates from its web site.

P.S.
OpenOffice isn't harder to use than Word, just arranged differently.

If this is about uninstalling something on Windows, please search or create a new thread in the Microsoft section (the forum appropriate for your OS). If this is a problem on a Linux computer, then create a new thread in that forum.
