signal strength

Hi,

In Windows, I live in a public hot spot and I am connected to a site I call HP. I can see the signal strength easily on the righ bottom tray. I am using a USB module by Engeniustech called EUB-362 EXT and it is connected right into my 15 dbi yagi antenna.

I disconnect this module from my windows system, connect my antenna to a EMP-360s minipci card and boot up PCLinuxos drive. It sees the 8602 module but even though I see the connection of HP, I cannot connect to it at all. Since I am surronded by three public hot spots, it connects to another site but I don't know what my signal strength is that it likes the second hot spot. How can I know what the strength of the connection in PCLinuxos ?

It also sees the same name twice and I only want to one of the two sites. How do I just select the site I want by comparing the signal strength/

Thanks
