strange mounting reaction
Hey! I um, having a difficult time sorting through previous threads and my linux tome is short on answers <sigh> (does anybody do this still?!).
Anyways, I to have a primary partition devoted to storage for Windows and Linux, and I can use it with few problems. ># mkdir /mnt/Win-Nix ># mount -t vfat /dev/hda2 /mnt/Win-Nix ># chgrp vfatSavers /mnt/Win-Nix ># chmod 770 /mnt/Win-Nix ...to summerize, mounted a local file system and set up a user group whereby Root and vfatSavers have full access to files and dirs and others can't access the file system (why I dunno). /etc/fstab (edited content, why I dunno) ># /dev/hda2 /mnt/Win-Nix vfat user,rw,exec,async,umask=0007,gid=600, 0 0 ...my objective is to create a few different groups (like in Windows). But something strange has arisen. ># ls -la /mnt Returns a 750 of the permissions to /mnt/Win-Nix. Something is missing in my /etc/fstab but I'm not certain.

Re: strange mounting reaction
Oh yeah! After I had mounted the storage partition I would have remount the local file system.
]# mount -a But that's not enough, is it? Next system restart did mount the partition as specified! Thx ne wa
