Ubuntu

Hi all,
I have been experimenting with Microsoft virtual PC, and got Suse10 to install and run just fine. However, when I installed ubuntu (have to look at the version, but I downloaded it pretty recently) it took me days and many kicks of the dog the get it up and running. Working fine now, but wonder if others had a similar problem. I know it can be set up as a dual boot, and have dual booted windows/linux for years. I was playing around with virtual OS, though.

Re: Ubuntu

Well, to be honest, all the problems I had were due to a use completly hosing the application. If not for that I would probably have a better outlook on it.

Re: Ubuntu

Not to change subjects, but as far as VMware is concerned, free server, but pay for workstation??? At least, that was when I downloaded it...

Re: Ubuntu

Download the prebuilt VMware OSes from any site and then run them in VMware Player.

A word of advice: use Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn).

Re: Ubuntu

OK, I found a pre-built free bsd, so I downloaded and played with it. Now I am installing Solaris. There doesn't appear to be the lag I experience with MSVPC, so I might migrate suse and ubuntu over to vmware also. No, not ubuntu. I worked for days getting it to install right. It's my badge of manhood. It also responds better than server did, but that might be because I am not using that crapplication that was giving me headaches. Thanks for the help.
