Uninstalling and Reinstalling Linux

Hi Friends,
I have a dual boot system with Win XP Pro and Mandriva One with LILO as the boot loader. However I want to unistall Mandriva and try a different distro in its place ( SimplyMepis or PCLinuxOS). Please tell me how can I do it inside Windows and I also don't want to lose my precious data.

Many Thanks in advance!

Simply download the distribution of your choice (I do highly recommend PCLinuxOS) and burn it to a CD, boot from the CD, and when you are installing it, "tell" it to use the partitions that Mandriva is/was using. It will format those partitions and install it's own bootloader. It will set up the dual boot for you, too.

Thank you very much for your reply K_B, but will my WIn XP installation still be intact and does PCLinux OS support SB16 sound card?

Thanks

Yes, before you install make sure you know which partition Mandriva is on and which is your swap partition. Just select those to install PCLinuxOS to and it won't touch your XP partitions.
You won't have any trouble with the sound card.
