hi, i am now trying ubuntu, i got a couple recommendations to use and i was have trouble with suse and fedora.
so i get this error that is says [after a couple reboots it finally works(until i reboot again)] is says "failed to inatize HAL!". i have tryed to delete hal in the recovery mode, but it still does it???????? and some times it work if i disconnect the cat 5 cable from it. and sometimes the soud doesnt work. i have deleted hal:Quote:

ok, the cat 5 cable has something to do with it, it is connected to a router but that shouldn't make a difference. so other forum said it was samba and auto login that was doing it, they said to disable it(i just installed it i was disabled already)?

Its a problem in Ubuntu that is resolved by reinstalling HAL via Synaptic. I have see this fix for too many not to recommend it.
# Bootup to your desktop and if this doesn't work, reboot and put a CD in the drive and HAL won't give the error and you are able to get to synaptic. # Reinstall HAL # Remove the media from the CD-Drive. # Reboot and it should now be fixed. |
